d’onderkast translates from and into all European languages, with a focus on Dutch, French, English and German. Ours is a team of highly educated and qualified translators and native speakers, well respected in their field.
When appropriate, we use translation software, exploiting the full potential of translation memories and term bases to guarantee consistency and competitive prices.
In addition to working with the standard Microsoft Office formats, we can directly translate websites and source files (e.g., FrameMaker, InDesign). We also provide sworn translations of official documents.
d’onderkast works in a variety of fields. We translate, edit and write technical, commercial and business texts, such as manuals, catalogues, newsletters, brochures and reports. We offer a full range of language services beyond translation, including revision, copy-editing, proofing, copywriting, localization and language advice.
about us
d’onderkast was founded in 2008 by Tineke Lecluyse and Iannis Goerlandt, language professionals with over ten years of experience in the translation industry. They are both members of the Belgian Chamber of Translators, Interpreters and Philologists.
The company name embodies our philosophy. The Dutch word onderkast (lowercase) is a typesetting term originally referring to the case that held the small letter sorts on a typesetter’s work table. Like those craftspeople of old, we devote meticulous care to every sentence, word and punctuation mark, without ever losing sight of the whole.
